On 4 June 2024, 10 a.m., WR Legal is hosting a workshop on AI – IP & financial law challenges as part of Startup Week Düsseldorf. Christine Meßmer and Christian Leuchter invite founders and those interested in founding a company to an exciting exchange in the offices of the law firm.
The rapid pace of technological development is enabling the diverse use of artificial intelligence (AI) and is encountering legal hurdles, some of which are still unknown. In our AI workshop, we would like to give participants a feel for the potential challenges involved in using AI. The focus here is on IP law and finance.
The use of AI can have an impact on a company’s IP rights and potentially infringe the IP rights of third parties. In addition, start-ups are faced with the question of when the result of an AI can be protected and when the result may be used without infringing the rights of the start-up itself or third parties. Using examples, we will work out together when the result of an AI can be protected under IP law and what the consequences are. We will also look at the general opportunities and risks of using AI in the financial world, taking into account the legal and regulatory requirements. The current principles of financial supervision for the use of artificial intelligence in the development phase and the application phase will be explained and discussed in a practical manner.
